    Description

1941 booklet titled "Profits . . . In Pennies   Your Guide to Success in Modern Arcade and Sportland Operation" by Mike Munves.  Booklet is about 6.25" X 9.5" and 20 pages.  This booklet was the "Bible" of coin-op amusement game operating 80 years ago, but most of the information is outdated today.  Booklet has five chapters: "Choice of Location," "Choice of Equipment," "The Placement of Equipment," "Business Policy," and "Miscellaneous."  Refers to a wide variety of games of the early 1940s, including Athletic Machinery, Competitive Machines, Fortune Telling Devices, Card Vending Machines, Photographic Equipment, and Amusement & Skill Machines (which includes pinball machines and cranes).  Portions of the booklet border on being offensive based on today's sensibilities ("Another idea, based on child psychology, is Carnival Day.  Make one day per week the 'gay day'").  Booklet is in excellent/near mint condition, with only a few light handling smudges on the covers.  It appears to have been published and printed in 1941, although the condition is so clean that it could be a reprint.  A great look at where the coin-op amusement industry was in 1941.
